post war drobe
Maria Gil is an award-winning, Polish furniture designer based in London. Her practice uses everyday objects as storytellers and while her designs are deeply context-driven, they are not meant to blend in, but rather stand out as thought-provoking statements.

Post war drobe is a speculative design that aims to answer the question of what postmodern design would look like in Poland if it ever had the right to exist. While in the West in the late 20th century a movement of playful experimentation in design was flourishing, Polish design was facing challenges due to economic and political crises. As fight for freedom is deeply enrooted in Polish identity, Post war drobe is a result of reimagination of history and exploration into freedom of form, capturing emotions and political commentary in design.
